Is Sounding Too Happy In Your Dating Profile A Turn-Off?

too happyOne common mistake that many people make in their online dating profile is sounding way too happy and unrealistically positive. “My life is amazing” , “I am having a blast”, “I am always happy”, “I enjoy everything life has to offer”, etc., are some of the common, cliché statements, that make these profiles sound fake and their authors come across as non genuine or desperate to sound way too happy.

Let’s face it – no one is happy 100% of the time. We are not supposed to be. This is simply not our nature. We all have our ups and downs. It’s neither healthy nor possible to be in a good mood all the time, unless you are on some type of drug. While you don’t want to sound negative and say in your profile that your life sucks, sounding too bubbly and too excited can also be off-putting, especially to the more perceptive readers. These are the readers who know know that people who appear too happy are usually not genuine or are simply trying too hard to cover up their many issues.

There is a lot of advice out there on how to write an online dating profile, and much of it revolves around the importance of sounding happy, ambitious and positive about your life, you job, your family, your past, and your future. It is true to an extent, but it’s equally important not to take that to an extreme.  For actual examples of great online dating profiles written by women, from which both men and women can learn a lot about how to write a great dating profile, check out our best selling publication “Powerful Online Dating Profiles“.
